Students are learning all about the Properties of Multiplication!
- The Identity Property: When you multiply a factor by 1, the product is the factor you multiplied by 1. Example: 5 X 1 = 5
- The Zero Property: If one of the factors is zero, the product is always zero. Example: 0 x 9 = 0
- The Commutative Property: Changing the order of the factors, doesn't change the product. Example: 3 X 5 = 5 X 3
- The Associative Property: When you multiply three or more factors, changing the order of the factors doesn't change the product. Example: (3 X 4) X 5 = 3 X (4 X 5)
- The Distributive Property: One factor can be broken down into its additives. When you multiply each addend by the other factor and add the products the product results.
